It's 2055 and a very different America. There's a Civil War going on in the United States and the soldiers Landlords and Gunlords are in the middle of this battle. Colonel Hack Dillinger and Lieutenant Jacob Dillinger are the brothers who courageously lead their respective men to these deadly battles. Hack, leading the Landlords, could be crude one second and charismatic the next, a gentleman at times and a Satan in a flash; a calm sea hiding a rampaging and invulnerable juggernaut. Jacob, on the other hand, is quite the opposite of Hack as he is kind of a little reckless and unpredictable one. But what would this war do to them, to their families and friends, to their nation, and to their future? Find out as this suspenseful and fast-moving story unravels.

With futuristic weaponry, high-end technology, and state-of-the-art ammunitions, those who love an action-packed, fast-paced sci-fi, that has a touch of poignant drama, will surely find this novel an absorbing, hard-to-put-down read.

This is a 500-page novel, and I'm not going to attempt a detailing of the plot. In the first place, there's too much of it, and secondly, while the story is satisfying, that's not the most important aspect of this mesmerizing book.
It's the writing!
I find it incredible that "Slave of the Gunlords" is Russell A. Reball's first novel. Usually those initial efforts ... even the most salutary ... are thinly drawn works that suggest better volumes somewhere down the road. But that's not what author Reball treats us to here. This is the real deal.
When a fiction writer knows his craft he shows it. Similarly, if he doesn't, we can pretty readily determine that too. So let me just say, as a writer who has read at least 500 novels in the eleven years that I have been writing them (or trying to anyway), this is one of the truly satisfying offerings I've come across in the whole batch.
There was a time not that many years ago when stories like Reball's were breathtaking primarily because of their sci-fi oriented twists and turns. But today, in a world of drones and robots and the like, somehow science fiction doesn't seem all that far-fetched.
Perhaps that's why this capable practitioner of the genre sells himself so convincingly to us in his first outing. Maybe he's not writing sci-fi after all. Could it be that, like Tom Clancy, Russell A. Reball simply knows a thing or two about modern warfare that we don't?

Slave of the Gunlords
In the United States of the future, civil war erupts over the treatment and isolation of millions of Americans after a viral epidemic. Fear of contamination keeps segregation alive even after the real threat has passed. Mr. Reball invents amazing new weaponry and body armor which will keep his readers enthralled. His talent creates characters of such depth that you won't want this story to end. I'm anxiously awaiting his next book in hopes that the hero returns.
This is a great Sci-Fi novel. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It holds your attention from start to finish. It has something for everyone, action, excitement, great story, romance, great characters and a memorable hero. The author describes the imagery so well. Character development is top notch. I didn't want it to end. This book is worth your investment and your time...so read and enjoy! I can't wait to read more books from this author.
